Corrosion resistance
Monel k-500 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in fluorine gas, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and their derived organisms. At the same time, it is more corrosion resistant than copper base alloy in seawater. Monel500 in the concentration of less than 85% of the sulfuric acid are corrosion resistant: Monel k-500 is resistant to hydrofluoric acid in one of the few important materials. Water corrosion: Monel500 alloy in most water corrosion cases, not only excellent corrosion resistance, and pitting corrosion, stress corrosion, etc. are rarely found, the corrosion rate is less than 0.025mm/a. High-temperature corrosion: The highest temperature for continuous operation of Monel500 in air is generally about 600°C. In high-temperature steam, the corrosion rate is less than 0 026mm/a. Due to the high nickel content of Monel500 alloy, it can resist corrosion under anhydrous ammonia and ammoniation conditions below 585°C.
